1st day….success
June 8, 2009
We just finished our first day at The Coffee Bar. Thanks to everyone who came by to wish us luck on this venture. We are pleased to say that we had a great morning. The baked goods from Agans were to die for. If you didn’t get a chance to stop by, please visit The Coffee Bar between 6 and 10 am on Monday through Saturdays.
Georgia BBQ Classic
June 7, 2009
The Coffee Bar team of volunteers just spent a couple of days handing out free iced coffee and biscotti at the Georgia BBQ Classic. The weather was pretty good this year. It was just hot enough that people felt refreshed with our iced coffee. We even convinced some “non-coffee drinkers” to give it a try and they were pleasantly surprised. It was a great time to let Cartersville residents know that we are new coffee shop in town with a Grand Opening on Monday, June 8th at 6am. We are located in the House of Rock building on Tennessee Street. We are also open during Oak Leaf Church service times on the weekends.
The Good Neighbor Homeless Shelter did an excellent job this year. We were all pleased to be helping a great local organization who invest funds into helping men, women and children through a rough time. Oh, and the BBQ samples I had were incredible!

ServSafe
May 30, 2009
I have just completed the required food safety service course and exam in order for The Coffee Bar to get a food permit. It was quite interesting really. Almost all of the other attendees were the cafeteria managers at the city and county schools. Most of them had been doing this for over 10-15 years. WOW! It was educational to hear all the stories and examples from a lunch lady’s perspective.
I must say, that my image of these workers has changed. They have to keep track of a lot of information and procedures to keep our kids safe in the cafeteria. The standards for their health inspection scores is very high and they have to meet them. I feel a lot better about sending Lauren to lunch with money to buy food in her cafeteria.
drink coffee…serve the world
May 29, 2009
The mission for The Coffee Bar is to provide a superior coffee to customers and then donate 100% of our net profits to local and worldwide missions. Each month The Coffee Bar will choose a non-profit group who works to better our community or another part of the world.
During the month of June, our net profits will be given to the Good Neighbor Shelter here in Cartersville. This group does a great job of assisting men, women and children who are going through a rough spot.

You can be a part of this mission by drinking our coffee; because when you drink coffee at The Coffee Bar, you are helping to serve the world.

Decaf lovers welcome
May 11, 2009
I wanted to share with you what our coffee roaster does to ensure that the decaf coffee is as high quality and taste as our regular coffees.
Natural Decaffeination
Lovers of decaffeinated coffee drink coffee because, more than anything, they simply love the flavor! We at Counter Culture feel a particular responsibility to the decaf drinker and have made it our special mission to roast the best decafs on the planet. Sadly, however, decaffeinated coffees have been relegated to secondary status by most of the world’s coffee roasters, who use low-quality coffees and cheap chemical processes to create their decafs. We have always resisted this tradition, sourcing top-quality coffees and decaffeinating them to order using the highest-quality, all-natural decaffeination processes available. We have garnered a certain amount of fame for the quality of our decafs, and we beam with pride every time a customer tells us that we have the best decafs they have ever tasted. Since a great decaf can never be made from an inferior coffee, we begin by selecting coffees of the same world-class quality as our caffeinated coffees, often from the very same farms.
